It is easy to handle, so it is excellent for workability and yield when making small splits. Please try actually performing face-grinding and small-splitting work yourself, and confirm the differences in the properties and performance of the sharpening stones.

There are various types, sizes, and shapes. For sharpening stones with ample size, use them as is for face-grinding. For those that do not fit, use them for small splitting, or use them in a manner similar to Japanese sword sharpening.

It is composed of only the easternmost **First-Class Mineral Deposit** in Kyoto City, Ukyo Ward + comparative samples.

Ume-ga-Hata sharpening stones are from Ume-ga-Hata Machi, known for its Nakayama and Kogyama areas, through the Seta Layer’s king, Okuden Town, and as the birthplace of Kyoto sharpening stones, Ayubutani.

This is not a set of stones that have increased in volume with substandard material, but rather one that allows you to tell the genuine article by the way it breaks. This is a set that has been primarily forged by trainees under the direction of a supervisor with over 15 years of experience in the Yamamoto forging technique. From the original stone with clear leaf structure, a flaky sludge like a thin film easily emerges.

Sharpening grains with directionality are arranged on the flakes, and surprisingly, the grinding ability is strong.

Under conditions where water is squeezed out, the grain size also rises as the flakes break.

The slippage between the flakes is due to the lubrication of the crushed sludge of tenacious feldspar and mica minerals, giving a light and pleasant sliding feel.

If you look at history, they slid the materials for the stone walls of Osaka Castle, which were laid with wet kombu seaweed and pulled. Imagine replacing the kombu with broken flakes.

If you grind too much pressure on the flakes that have not been completely crushed, or if the grinding is too aggressive, it is easy to post-process with the overlapping parts of the flakes and the strong grinding ability derived from Yamashiro Province, but it can create shallow scratches on soft metals.

The appearance of these shallow scratches will change considerably with adjustments in force, sharpening angle, sludge amount, and water content, which improves the degree of refinement.

It is easy to obtain self-evaluation of the degree of refinement from visual results, so we recommend it.

In the early stages of approaching a skilled flake user, you will likely notice that the “kombu attack” mentioned above is very helpful for under-forged items and those that are hard and stiff from other countries.

You may feel motivated to challenge those hard, unruly horses that you have given up on before. In the first place, the leaf structure that is taken out by forging after discarding the thickness is the domain of the master stone craftsman...

Due to the tendency of careless manufacturing with thickness and size as justice in the market, there is a large profit margin, so there is a good chance that you will have the opportunity to use soft red pin sludge.

・Kyoto City, Ukyo Ward, Yamashiro Province, Ume-ga-Hata produced quartz schist #6,000~24,000 grit. The harder it is, the more likely it is to become refined, although it requires a higher degree of refinement. Due to the continuous strip marks on the rounded bottom, it is difficult to become a mirror-like surface with a 70% threshold, and it is easy to draw out the contrast derived from differences in forging lines, material, and carbon content.

・The stone tends to be harder and more refined, like dark rock juice. Since it is hard, the self-sharpness decreases, so sharpen it according to the purpose and degree of refinement, while performing co-named hanging at each time.
