The floating structure prevents excessive deformation caused by expansion of the brake track due to temperature rise during braking. The slight movement of the disc optimizes contact with the pad, preventing overheating of the pad and disc. This improves braking efficiency. The aluminum spider improves heat dissipation.
FEM analysis was followed by rigorous lab and road tests, conducted with professional riders for over a year in all weather conditions. In the most demanding test, the rotor passed a prolonged braking test at temperatures reaching 500°C without deformation. Five floating rivets on the rotor allow the rotor to expand, aiding heat dissipation and preventing deformation of the outer disc.
Using FEM analysis, we have pursued the most efficient shape for this disc rotor, minimizing weight while ensuring maximum braking performance. The two-piece structure of the outer disc and spider uses a floating structure that allows for a small amount of play in the axial direction.
