Since its publication as a "COM Special Edition" (published by Mushi Productions) in October 1970, it has long been difficult to obtain. We are now offering a complete reprint of this spectacular manga, meticulously restored from the original.

Here, we introduce Animerama, as conceived by Tezuka Osamu...

Animerama is the name given to the animated films produced by Tezuka Osamu and Mushi Productions and distributed by Nippon Herald Pictures. This is a term coined by Tezuka, meaning "animation & drama," "animation & Cinerama," and "animation & panorama." The following three works are often referred to as the "Animerama Trilogy." ◇ "The Thousand and One Nights" ◇ "Cleopatra" ◇ "Belladonna of Sorrow" All of these works were originally marketed as "animations for adults."

The book also features a blurb from Tezuka Osamu at the beginning of its publication, which reads: "By eliminating the gags of Animerama that could only be expressed in films and providing detailed background on the characters and the era, I aimed to create a work that anyone, whether they've seen the films or not, can enjoy.

This reprint project will faithfully reproduce the same large B5 format as the "COM Special Issue," as well as the color pinups and two-color pages. Also included are previews of works published in "COM" magazine before and after the publication, as well as a reprint of a three-way discussion between current Tezuka Productions president Takayuki Matsutani, Osamu Tezuka, and Hisashi Sakaguchi that was featured in the November 1980 issue of "Pafu"!
