Product Description "Taoru Komachi" is an original brand of Sanwa Towel Weaving Co., Ltd., located in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. Surrounded by mountains and flowing rivers, we weave towels in a misty, typical Japanese mountain village. Our towels are designed to suit the Japanese climate and lifestyle, reflecting Japan's rich towel culture due to its abundant water resources. In Japan, where humidity is high, towels are used daily and washed frequently, making durable and quick-drying towels essential. Each product is crafted daily to ensure they are "towels suited for the Japanese climate" and "towels for everyday life."
Emphasis on absorbency (post-processing) and texture Due to post-processing (washing to remove oil and impurities from the threads after weaving), our towels excel in absorbency and texture. We also fine-tune the weaving density to achieve the right thickness and softness for easy drying and cleanliness.
Suitable thickness for oshibori Delivered in a packaged state (as shown in the left photo), the towels may initially feel thin due to the pile being flattened, but they will achieve the appropriate thickness for oshibori after washing. The left side of the right photo shows the towels taken out of the packaging, while the right side shows towels that have been washed for 15 minutes, rinsed twice, and dehydrated for 4 minutes (without fabric softener) and then air-dried and folded.
Made in Japan, tailored to the Japanese climate "Taoru Komachi" creates towels from planning to weaving. By starting the planning process centered around our own factory, we ensure quality in absorbency, texture, and cleanliness, resulting in towels that suit the Japanese climate through innovative weaving and processing techniques.
