Mino ware is a general term for ceramics produced in the region spanning Toki, Tajimi, Mizunami, and Kani cities in Gifu Prefecture. With a long history and tradition, Mino ware accounts for approximately 60% of the national share of tableware production, making it arguably the most representative of Japanese pottery. Because of the sheer variety of pottery produced, it's often said that "the lack of a defining characteristic is the defining characteristic of Mino ware." By creating works that adapt to the trends of each era, Mino ware has remained beloved by people throughout its more than 1300-year history. You can enjoy the techniques that have been passed down through the ages.
