About Lladró NAO:
The Lladro family's father was a farmer, and the Lladro brothers, Juan, José, and Vicente, were born in Almacera, a northern suburb of Valencia. At the age of 14, each of the three brothers entered an art school in Valencia, the capital of Valencia, where Juan and José studied painting and ceramics, and Vicente studied sculpture. In 1951, the three brothers set up an old-fashioned pottery kiln in the courtyard of their home in Almacera, and began making floral decorations for lamps. The floral decorations became so popular that they eventually introduced high-temperature kilns for porcelain, producing vases and pitchers similar to Sèvres in France and Meissen in Germany. In 1955, he opened a store in Valencia specializing in sales, and in 1956 he began manufacturing porcelain figurines using hard white kaolin clay.In 1958, the company moved to Tabernes Blanques (Spanish version), adjacent to the south of Almacera, and built a new factory there.
In 1968, a sister brand, ``NAO,'' was created, which is derived from the carracks used during the Age of Discovery.NAO has a relatively simple design and has a reasonable price compared to the original Lladro, but it is manufactured by the same factory and craftsmen as Lladro.Porcelain Street was opened in 1969 by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, and today more than 2,000 people work in Porcelain Street. In 1973, it acquired a 50% stake in Weil Ceramics & Glass in the United States.
