The following is a description of the card game "Virus!". in the Spanish version for all three editions:
Basic Edition (Green Box)
Main objective: The first player to collect 4 healthy organs wins.
Types of cards: These include organ cards (4 colors + joker), virus cards (corresponding to the colors of the organs + joker), pill cards (corresponding to the colors of the organs + joker), and special action cards.
Game Flow:
In each turn, the player can choose to play one card or discard any number of cards, and then draw up to three cards.
Only one organ card can be played per player’s area. Virus cards can be played on organs of the same color belonging to any player to infect them. The cards with the pill symbols are played on organs of the same color, and the second pill makes them immune.
Players must use viruses strategically to interfere with their opponents and protect their own organs. The first one to get 4 healthy organs wins.
Evolution Edition (Purple Box)
Central Mechanism: It incorporates a virus evolution system based on the rules of basic editing.
New Elements: Evolved virus cards can stack effects or trigger chain reactions, making virus transmission and mutation more strategic. For example, some evolved viruses can infect multiple organs simultaneously or force opponents to discard cards.
Changes to the Game: Players must pay closer attention to the “evolution path” of the viruses, combining different evolution cards to interfere with opponents and, at the same time, to counter more complex virus attacks. The goal of winning remains to gather four healthy organs first, but during the process, one must face more varied viral threats.
Halloween Edition (Orange Box)
Thematic Feature: Incorporates Halloween elements, with designs featuring vampire cards, bats, and other Halloween motifs.
Game adjustments: Special Halloween-themed action cards are added, such as "Vampire Bite," which can steal cards from opponents, and "Bat Transmission," which can cause the virus to spread randomly among several players.
The main objective remains the same: to collect four healthy organs to win, but the effects of the Halloween-themed cards add to the fun and randomness of the game, making the combat process more festive.
