A precision elliptical stylus model that extracts accurate information. The [Audio-Technica] VM-type cartridge, a uniquely developed product of [Audio-Technica], is reborn as the “AT-VM700x/600x/500x” series (“AT-VMx” series). This is a renewal after 9 years since 2016, and the lineup includes a wide range of models from high-grade models equipped with a line contact stylus to standard models equipped with an elliptical/conical stylus. In addition to the highest sound quality in the history of VM-type cartridges, ease of use has also been improved. All models newly adopt PCUHD (high-purity oxygen-free copper) for the coil conductor, realizing powerful low-frequency reproduction and a wide soundstage. By reducing the number of coil windings, we have also achieved a responsive, light sound and enhanced musical expressiveness. In addition, the change to a threaded specification for the cartridge has made it easier to attach to integrated arms. Furthermore, a V-cut has been added to the protector as a stylus tip guide to improve the visibility of the stylus tip when dropping the needle onto the record.

・Newly adopted PCUHD*² for coil conductors: PCUHD*² is used for the first time in a VM-type cartridge, also used in our Hi-Fi audio cables. It realizes powerful low-frequency reproduction and a wide soundstage. Furthermore, by reducing the number of coil windings, it has been finished with a responsive, light sound. *² PCUHD: Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability (high-purity oxygen-free copper wire) ・Diverse stylus lineup to meet the sound quality you seek: This is a standard model with an elliptical stylus equipped with a bonded elliptical stylus. Tracking distortion is reduced, and information is extracted more accurately. ・Paratroid coil structure adopted for the body: The “AT-VMx” series is characterized by a unique power generation system called a paratroid coil structure. The paratroid structure is unitized, and there are no seams in the core, so the magnetic flux is retained within the specially wound coil. As a result, power generation efficiency is improved, and excellent linearity is achieved. ・Implementation of threaded cartridge mounting holes: Compatible with integrated tonearms widely adopted in the global Hi-Fi audio market. By changing to a threaded specification, it has become easier to attach the cartridge to an integrated arm. ・Improved visibility of the stylus tip during operation: In conventional VM-type cartridges, there were voices saying that the needle tip was difficult to see when dropping the needle onto the record. In this model, while ensuring compatibility with the old model (replacement needle/body), a V-cut has been added to the protector as a stylus tip guide to improve the visibility of the stylus tip.
