It plugs into any PCIe X4/X8/X16 slot, adding six SATA III (6Gbps) ports to your PC, allowing you to connect and operate six HDDs or SSDs simultaneously without changing your motherboard. Ideal for storage pools and software RAID: By combining six drives onto a single card, you can build a full-fledged storage pool (unRAID, TrueNAS, ZFS, Proxmox, OpenMediaVault, Windows Storage Spaces). This card passes all drives directly to the OS (pass-through), providing the necessary environment for software RAID. Hardware RAID is not performed. Jobs are processed at full speed without any bottlenecks between the drive and the CPU. Supported Environments and Settings No driver installation is required. It works out of the box with Windows (excluding XP), Mac OS, Linux, and NAS systems. Two things to note before use: Set the SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS/UEFI. Also, this card is an HBA for data storage and cannot boot an OS from a connected drive. Monitor all drives without opening the case Six LEDs are built into the side of the port. Red light indicates power on and operation, and blinking indicates reading or writing. You can check the operating status and access of all 6 drives at a glance.
