【Voltage Compatibility】
When using electrical appliances, please note that they are designed for Japanese voltage specifications (90-110V), so if you use them with a different voltage, it may cause a malfunction.
【Plug Type】
Our products use Japanese plug types (A or B type).
Please use a conversion adapter if necessary.
【Important Note on Transformers and Adapters】
A transformer adjusts voltage to match your device’s requirements.
A conversion adapter only changes the plug shape and does not adjust voltage.
Using only a conversion adapter without a transformer may result in damage to the product.
【Liability】
We are not responsible for malfunctions or damages caused by improper use, such as operating the product without a transformer.
Half-size format: The half-size format uses approximately half the size of a 35mm film frame (36 x 24mm), which is 17 x 24mm. With the "PENTAX 17," due to its mechanism for advancing film horizontally, holding the camera as is results in a vertical shot, allowing users to shoot with the same feel as with smartphones, which are commonly by many people today.
A newly developed lens combining a well-established lens optics system with the latest coating technology: It is equipped with a newly developed 25mm (approximately 37mm equivalent in 35mm format) prime lens. Based on the lens optics of the "PENTAX Espio Mini" (released in 1994), which had a reputation for its image quality, it has been newly designed for the half-frame format and features high-performance multi-coating "HD coating" to achieve clear and sharp images. In addition, the angle of view is based on the lens in the "RICOH Auto Half" (released in 1962), a half-frame format camera, making it a focal length that can be easily for everyday photography.
Optical viewfinder for real-time subject confirmation: The optical viewfinder is an Albada-type bright-frame viewfinder. In addition to the normal shooting field of view frame, it also has a close-range field of view correction frame, and the selected zone focus icon can also be confirmed in the viewfinder.
Zone Focus with Easy Icon Selection: For focusing, use the manual selection zone focus system. Six zones, from close to far distances, are displayed as icons on the zone focus ring, allowing you to enjoy shooting by selecting the icon that corresponds to the subject you want to photograph. When macro shooting is selected, close-up shooting is possible from approximately 0.25m, and by using the included strap, you can accurately measure the shooting distance.
Seven shooting modes: The built-in metering sensor automatically controls the exposure. It features seven diverse shooting modes, including "AUTO" for hands-free shooting, "Slow Shutter" suitable for shooting at dusk, and "Bulb" mode suitable for nightscapes and fireworks. It also has an independent exposure compensation dial, allowing for quick exposure adjustments according to the subject and shooting intention.
The "PENTAX 17" was developed by Ricoh Imaging/PENTAX, leveraging their extensive experience in film camera development. Veteran and younger engineers worked together to pass on their expertise, and deliberately chose not to be fully automatic, leaving room for human intervention. This allows photographers to express their individuality and creativity. It's a model designed to allow film camera enthusiasts worldwide, who have enjoyed film photography for years, and younger generations who want to start with film, to fully enjoy shooting with a film camera—the very essence of photography.
