Precautions
1. Do not exceed the maximum operating current during use; allow a 20% margin.
2. Do not exceed the module’s maximum reverse voltage; considering voltage spikes, a 30% margin must be allowed.
3. The module must not be used as a freewheeling diode in AC circuits.
4. Ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent the module temperature from exceeding 110°C; otherwise, the MOSFET drive will fail. A heat sink can be attached to the back of the module to dissipate heat and lower the operating temperature
Important Notes for Use
Note that although the module has no forward voltage limit, it does have a reverse voltage limit. (Ensure the reverse voltage remains below 40 V.) Since the module operates without requiring a ground connection, it offers a clear advantage over modules that do require grounding; it can be connected in series directly into the circuit like a diode. While the quiescent current is 0, there are also disadvantages. If your application is sensitive to the following factors, this module is not suitable:
1. Sensitivity to output voltage fluctuations: During operation, the module experiences temporary voltage drops exceeding 0.3V; these typically do not exceed 0.7V. This occurs for a very brief period—approximately 2% of the total operating time. In other words, for every 100 seconds of operation, there are about 2 seconds during which the voltage drop exceeds 0.3V, though each instance of a significant drop lasts less than 40 ms.
2. Devices with an operating current less than 10 mA that are sensitive to voltage fluctuations (cannot tolerate fluctuations of approximately 0.4 V, although actual measurements show fluctuations around 0.3 V). A small current will flow through the reverse-current protection circuit. This means that when you connect the output port to the input power source, a voltage can be detected at the module’s input port, but the current flowing through is approximately 110 μA. Most load devices can pull this voltage down.
3. Not suitable for devices operating on very low currents, such as microcontrollers. It cannot replace the freewheeling diode in a switching power supply, but it can be used for reverse current protection.
