The outside of the iron kettle has a baked lacquer finish, and the inside is rust-prevented using the traditional kiln firing technique. (This is a traditional technique that prevents rust by firing at charcoal fire at approximately 900 degrees Celsius to form a film of iron(II,III) oxide on the surface. The boiled water is rich in ferrous iron, which is easily absorbed by the body, making it effective for replenishing iron in the kettle.)
