Product Description
One module is all you need to charge 18650 Li-ion cells. The TP4056 is the most trusted Li-ion charging solution in the DIY electronics community, combining charge management and battery protection on one tiny board. Just a 5V phone charger and USB cable deliver a safe 1A charge. Onboard red/blue LEDs show charge status clearly. Built-in triple protection prevents overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits. Three interface versions available—Micro USB, Type-C, Mini USB—to match your cable preference.
Quick Start Guide & Important Tips
What It Does & What You Need
This module does: Charge 3.7V/3.6V Li-ion cells (18650 etc.) from a 5V USB source at up to 1A. Integrated overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuit protection.
This module is NOT: A LiFePO4 charger. It does NOT boost battery voltage to 5V. It is NOT a power bank mainboard.
You will need: A 5V USB charger (1A+ output), a USB cable matching the version, a 18650 Li-ion cell.
Wiring & Usage
1.Connect Battery: B+ to battery positive (red), B- to battery negative (black). ️ Reverse polarity will instantly destroy the module!
2.Power Up: Plug the USB cable into the module and 5V charger. Red LED = Charging.
3.Wait for Full: Blue LED = Fully charged (~4.2V). Module stops automatically.
️ First Activation: After connecting the battery, the output terminals (OUT+/OUT-) may show no voltage. Apply 5V charge power for a few seconds to activate the protection circuit, then output will work normally.
Important Notes & Common Questions
Charger Requirement: Use a 5V USB charger rated 1A or higher. Old PC USB ports (0.5A) may charge extremely slowly or not at all.
Type-C Note: The Type-C version only supports USB-A to Type-C cables. It does NOT support Type-C to Type-C (C-to-C) charging.
Disconnect Load During Charge: Disconnect any load from OUT+/OUT- while charging, or charging may be affected.
No output voltage after connecting battery?
The protection circuit needs activation. Apply 5V charge power briefly and output will resume.
Red LED keeps blinking?
The battery may be deeply discharged (<2.5V). The module is in trickle charge mode. It will switch to constant current once voltage rises. Or the battery may be damaged.
Can I charge multiple 18650s in parallel?
This is a single-cell charger. Parallel charging is theoretically possible but slower, and cells must have closely matched voltages.
