This masterpiece features the "Wind God and Thunder God" screens by Tawaraya Sotatsu, rendered on a silver paper base. The fan ribs are finished in a glossy black lacquer, offering a unique and distinctive look.

Folding fans are considered auspicious because they are "suehirogari" (widening at the end). The shape, which spreads out toward the tip, symbolizes gradual prosperity and good fortune. They are cherished as gifts for celebrations and tokens of appreciation. They are particularly popular as presents for birthdays, as well as for milestone celebrations such as the 60th (Kanreki), 70th (Koki), 77th (Kiju), and 88th (Beiju) birthdays, and as retirement gifts.
