[Brand] "GLASS-LAB" (Koto Brand Certified). GLASS-LAB was born from the challenge of three generations of craftsmen in the downtown area, driven by the desire to "move the hearts" of those who receive their work. Operating a glass processing business in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa since 1950, they specialize in "Hira-Kiriko" (flat cutting), a technique currently practiced by only about 10 artisans in Japan. By fusing Edo Kiriko techniques with world-class sandblasting capable of drawing lines as fine as 0.09mm, they developed their unique "Suna-Kiriko" technique. The brand has gained attention not only for domestic exhibitions but also for showcasing its unique technology globally, including at Milan Salone, and has been featured in various media. "Suna-Kiriko" glasses are designed to move the hearts of those who hold them (Suna-Kiriko: Trademark Registration No. 6193156).
[Koto Brand] Koto Ward certifies companies that engage in manufacturing with excellent technology and strive to inherit and develop it as a "Koto Brand." GLASS-LAB is a certified "Koto Brand" company.
[Technique & Material] When sake is poured, the pattern on the bottom reflects onto the flat-cut sides, making it appear as if it is spreading. It is a glass that offers beauty to behold, excitement when pouring, joy when drinking, and pleasure in its use. "Suna-Kiriko" combines "Hira-Kiriko" with "sandblasting," where sand is discharged via compressed air to carve the glass, creating a brand-new form of Edo Kiriko. It uses a double-layered glass structure with a vibrant emerald green overlay on a light blue base, expressing the image of fresh green maple leaves reflected on the water's surface. Custom-made "colored overlay glass," commonly used in Edo Kiriko, is utilized.
