Lecithin is a naturally derived compound found in all cells of nature, plants, and animals. The word 'Lecithin' is derived from the Greek word 'Lekithos,' meaning 'egg yolk.' This is a fitting name for this essential nutrient, as egg yolks are regarded as symbols of life, strength, and abundance. Lecithin makes up approximately 30% of the human brain. It also accounts for about two-thirds of the myelin sheath, the insulating layer that protects the brain, spinal cord, and thousands of miles of nerves. The heart also contains high concentrations of lecithin. This lecithin is composed of a wide variety of elements, including choline, inositol, linolenic acid, phosphatidylserine, beneficial fatty acids, and triglycerides. NOW®’s Genetically Modified Free Lecithin Granules are entirely derived from Preservative-Implanted (IP) Genetically Modified Free soybeans. We guarantee that the soybeans used in this product were grown from seeds certified as Genetically Modified Free.
