1. Teat Dipping During Milking
Preparation before dipping:
1. Rinsing: Rinse the teats and surrounding area with warm water (38-40°C) before milking.
2. Drying: Wipe with disposable paper towels; collect and dispose of used towels properly.
3. Massage: Massage gently and quickly; complete the process within 15-20 seconds.
Pre-milking teat dipping: Immediately after preparation, dip the teats into a cup containing the solution for 2-3 seconds, wipe them dry with disposable paper towels, and then attach the milking clusters.
Post-milking teat dipping: Immediately after milking, dip the teats in the solution, ensuring they are fully immersed for 2-3 seconds.
2. Teat Dipping During Dry-Off
When drying off a lactating cow, immediately perform a teat dip (2-3 seconds) after completely emptying the udder. Once the dip solution has dried, wipe each teat with an alcohol-soaked cotton ball, administer the dry-cow infusion, and perform a final teat dip.
3. Teat Dipping After Dry-Off and During the Pre-calving Period
Perform a scheduled teat dip once daily during the first week after dry-off. Increase the frequency to twice daily during the week prior to calving. During these periods, do not wash the udder or teats, and do not perform strip-testing.
