The Baofeng UV-82 radio is another handheld dual-band transceiver from the Chinese manufacturer, following the UV-5R, UV-B5 and UV-B6 series, with a receive and transmit path designed from scratch.

The Duobander is equipped with a dual display, a 42-position menu, selective calling, Dual Watch, an LED flashlight, separate PTT for each VFO and many other functions.

The radio can be programmed using appropriate computer software and a special PC programming cable, which can be purchased as optional accessories.

Any programming and modifications to the original settings must be performed by a specialist technician or authorized service center. Some radio functions may be programmed in violation of the legal regulations in force in a given area or country in the VHF and UHF bands of this radio.

It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure that any changes made through optional reprogramming comply with current regulations and laws regarding radio telecommunications in that area. Making any changes to the levels of designed currents within the radio (including the device's power), the external structure of the radio, or programming that violates the regulations of a given country automatically voids the product's declared conformity certificates and the owner's right to use the device.

This liability also falls upon third parties and resellers of such a product after the aforementioned modifications have been made.
