SHX Series – Dynamic Sound and Higher Efficiency

Excursion SHX speakers were designed as a more advanced alternative to basic car audio systems. Compared to the lower-end SX series, they offer a more dynamic character, better control, and a more mature sound.

The woofer impedance is 3 Ohms. This allows the system to more effectively utilize the power of the amplifier or head unit. In practice, this translates into more energetic sound and better dynamics during everyday listening.

SHX-6M woofers – stronger bass and clear midrange

The SHX-6M woofers have a diameter of 165 mm. Their diaphragms are made of a 2-layer composite of paper, natural wool, and glass fiber. This construction is lightweight, stiff, and well-damped.

The lighter diaphragm improves the speaker's response speed. This results in more detailed midrange tones and improved bass attack. A special LXPD dust cap works similarly to a phase corrector and improves sound resolution at a wider listening angle.

The woofers use an EFF magnetic system with a central vent. The extended voice coil gap allows for greater linear excursion of the diaphragm, which improves performance, primarily in the low frequency range.

Vented basket and 3 Ohm voice coil

Important Installation Information

Crossovers are essential for the proper operation of the mid-range speakers and tweeters. They protect them from too low a frequency signal. Connecting these speakers without crossovers can result in permanent damage to the voice coils. Such damage is not covered by warranty.

Depending on the mounting location, speaker orientation, and distance from the listener, changing the polarity of the midrange or tweeter drivers can help achieve better alignment around the crossover point.

Optional Excursion XLR resistive attenuators can be used to lower the signal level of the midrange or tweeter drivers by 2 to 10 dB.
