The HYAKUICHI Mechanical GMT Diver's Watch Model 14R is a mechanical automatic GMT wristwatch equipped with the TMI NH34A movement. The bezel is made of ceramic material, which has a lustrous texture and excellent scratch resistance. The friction bezel rotates smoothly in both directions and has a 24-hour display, combining a unique operating feel without a click mechanism with a moderate resistance to prevent accidental operation. The NH34A moves in 6 steps per second and is equipped with a hacking function. The second hand can be stopped by pulling out the crown, allowing for precise time setting to the second. The catalog value states a daily variation of -20 to +40 seconds, which is excellent accuracy for a mechanical wristwatch. The GMT hand completes one rotation of the dial in 24 hours and can be not only as a 24-hour counter but also as a second time zone to indicate the time of any country or region. The case is water-resistant to 200m, a feature inherited from HYAKUICHI's diver's models. Featuring a screw-down crown and a see-through case back, the inner wall of the case bears the inscription "AUTOMATIC JAPAN MOVEMENT OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED WATER RESISTANCE."
The watch is engraved with the specifications "ANT 660FT/200M". The bracelet is a five-link Jubilee bracelet with fine links that flexibly conform to the wrist. While inheriting the basic performance of Model 14, such as the ceramic bezel, friction bezel, and Jubilee bracelet, this model further enhances the materials and details. The Alexandrite dial, which is a single color for 14R, is based on a vibrant blue-green, but the impression of the color changes depending on the intensity and angle of light and the surrounding environment. Under strong light, a vivid green reminiscent of emerald emerges, and as the light intensity decreases, it becomes a deep blue-green. By changing the angle further, colors similar to turquoise and teal shift across the dial. What further accentuates this change is the sunray finish that radiates from the center. The parts that receive light are vividly colored, and deep shadows are created right next to them, creating a sense of depth as if multiple colors exist simultaneously on a single dial. The name "Alexandrite" is inspired by the gemstone that changes its appearance depending on the light. Rather than reproducing the color of the gemstone itself, it's about capturing a color that cannot be expressed by a single color.
This coloring expresses the changing seasons. The 14R looks different in bright light compared to when viewed in dim light. Though it's the same watch, the impression it gives is subtly different. Not defining the color is what makes this color unique. The 14R ALEXANDRITE changes its expression with the light.
