What What is vacuum insulation?

Vacuum means that the air between the outer and inner layers of stainless steel has been removed to create a vacuum insulation. This blocks heat transfer through the air (conduction). ZOJIRUSHI vacuum insulation also includes a layer of copper or aluminum tightly wrapped around the outer inner layer of stainless steel.

The gap between the two layers is very narrow, approximately 1mm, making all ZOJIRUSHI thermoses and mugs have a larger capacity than you might expect from the outside.
