New Zealand Manuka Honey MGO™ 400+ 500g is the most frequently purchased Manuka honey in Poland. It is characterized by a very high, certified methylglyoxal content of 400 mg/kg (MGO™ 400+). Ordinary honeys contain from 1 to 10 mg/kg, on average 3.1 mg/kg.

Scientific research conducted in 2008 at the Dresden University of Technology showed that Manuka Honey MGO™ is the only food product in the world so far in which such a significant concentration of naturally occurring methylglyoxal was found - at a level from 30 mg/kg to over 800 mg/kg.

For comparison, the concentration The average content of this substance in other honeys found in the world is 3.1 mg/kg. The same study proved that only methylglyoxal is responsible for the lasting properties characteristic of Manuka honey.

Professor Thomas Henle recommends consuming honey with a minimum content of 100 mg of methylglyoxal per kg (MGO™ 100+).

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand by bees that feed on the nectar of Leptospermum scoparium flowers, also known as Manuka. New Zealand is characterized by an exceptionally clean environment with rich and unique flora and fauna. It is also the place where we can find Manuka bushes.

The properties of honey are closely related to the plants from which it is produced. The same is true for Manuka honey. Manuka flower nectar contains a substance that converts into methylglyoxal. This conversion occurs both in the bee's body, during the transport of the nectar to the hive, and during the honey's maturation process.

Methylglyoxal has been recognized by scientists as the main active ingredient in Manuka honey. This observation was conducted by Professor Thomas Henle from the Dresden University of Technology. He analyzed, among other things, the composition and properties of Manuka honey.

Professor Henle is one of the world's leading food researchers. Based on his observations, we can conclude that only methylglyoxal is the source of honey's lasting, beneficial activity. Lasting activity should be understood as activity that does not result from hydrogen peroxide and its content in honey.

It is also worth remembering that methylglyoxal is found in significant amounts only in some Manuka honeys.

These special properties of Manuka honey result from the high content of methylglyoxal. However, this ingredient does not occur in every honey in the same concentration. The content of the substance may vary between individual batches of honey.

Manuka MGO™ honeys are subjected to detailed testing before reaching store shelves and your homes. This testing is carried out at three points. The first step is an inspection in the manufacturer's laboratory, the next step is external testing in laboratories in New Zealand.

The final step is an inspection in laboratories in Poland.

The high quality of Manuka MGO™ honey is guaranteed not only by multi-stage verification through inspections, but also by maintaining the highest standards during production.

Additionally, in Poland Manuka MGO™ honey is tested by the Border Veterinary Inspectorates, the Provincial Inspectorate of Commercial Quality of Agricultural and Food Products and State Trade Inspection (test results in 2008 confirmed the full originality of MGO™ Manuka Honey).
