In 1995, coinciding with Michael Jordan's return to the NBA, the Air Jordan 10 was officially launched. Upon its initial conception, the Air Jordan 10 did not involve Jordan in its design process and thus failed to win his favor; only after revisions was it finally released. The Air Jordan 10 marked the first use of a Phylon midsole to reduce weight, while a 3/4-length Air Sole unit provided firm cushioning. The outsole featured inscriptions documenting Jordan’s outstanding career achievements year by year. To generate buzz for the debut Air Jordan 10, released five distinct city-themed colorways. March 25, 1995, wearing the Chicago-themed colorway of the Air Jordan 10, Jordan played his first game following his comeback—immediately reestablishing himself as the global focal point for basketball fans, and simultaneously bringing the Air Jordan 10 into the spotlight alongside 'His Airness.'
