HALLS - O Oddech blisko!
Did you know that…
…all Halls hard candies sold in Europe come from a factory located in Poland, specifically in Skarbimierz (about 50 km from Wrocław)? The importance of this product in the everyday lives of Poles is demonstrated by the millions of packets of Halls candies sold each year.
The secret lies in the candy's intensely refreshing recipe, which has existed since 1927, when the brothers Norman and Thomas Halls discovered and patented the perfect combination of menthol and eucalyptus. Since then, a product has existed whose form and flavor are still known today.
Halls candies are available in many flavors, but their defining characteristic is their strength and intense mint refreshment. However, this refreshment would not be possible without the sublimation process.
During this process, menthol changes from a solid to a gas, creating a cooling sensation from the mouth to the nose.
How did it all begin?
Hall Brothers was founded by two English brothers, Norman and Thomas Hall, in 1893 in Bury, England. Initially, the company sold luxury products, particularly soaps, jams, and sweets. In 1901, the company began producing hard candies for the first time.
Immediately after World War I, the company also began producing caramels. Thanks to the success of the caramels, in 1924, the Hall brothers focused exclusively on candy production and completely abandoned the production of other products.
But it wasn't until 1927 that Thomas Hall conceived the idea for a menthol-eucalyptus candy that made its way from Europe to almost every corner of the world. By 1953, when the company began exporting its candies to the United States, it employed 185 people.
In the early 1960s, over 20% of candy production was exported outside England.
