This is a formal juzu (prayer beads) for men, designed for the Shingon sect of Buddhism. It features 10mm x 8mm striped ebony (matte finish) beads and a parent bead carved with the Shingon sect’s crests, “Gosan Kiru” and “Mitsudomoe,” also in striped ebony (matte finish). It comes with a silk karahan (tassel). The juzu is delivered in a kiri (paulownia) box.

This juzu is crafted by a Kyoto juzu manufacturing artisan with a tradition of Kyoto juzu production techniques. It includes a tag from the Kyoto Juzu Manufacturing Wholesale Cooperative Association, which is permitted only for traditional “Kyoto Juzu.”

The tassel is a beautiful and flexible Kyoto-made silk karahan, inspired by the lotus flower. This silk karahan successfully integrates the core and tassel sections by weaving the core thread into the karahan core, resulting in a durable and difficult-to-detach tassel.

“Honshiki Juzu” (formal prayer beads) have a fixed shape for each sect. As juzu are proof of a Buddhist’s faith, please choose the juzu for your sect.
