Over time, the decorative techniques were adapted to Japanese styles, leading to the term Inden for lacquered deer leather. Among these, the unique technique developed by Uehara Yushichi in the Edo period, which involves applying lacquer patterns to soft and strong deer leather, is called "Kōshu Inden" and is designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Inden-ya has inherited the Inden techniques from Uehara Yushichi for thirteen generations, continuously adding creativity and refinement. It is the main house of Kōshu Inden, continuing to produce items that convey the rare culture of leather crafts.
