Product Description: Kuradashi Uji Gyokuro 100g in Wooden Box KS-03 A refined depth and aroma matured for one year. Typically, tea deteriorates over time. However, by carefully storing high-quality tea for about a year, the aroma intensifies and the depth increases. Kuradashi Uji Gyokuro is perfect for special gifts. What is Kuradashi? It refers to the umami and aroma that have matured over one year. Normally, tea deteriorates with time, but by storing high-quality tea properly for a year, it becomes mellow and rounded in flavor. Origin of the Tea: Uji. Currently, Uji tea is considered one of Japan's two major teas alongside Shizuoka tea. During the Edo period, there were processions known as Ocha Tsubo Dochu that delivered tea to the shogunate. Today, it has transformed into Uji tea sweets, becoming a popular souvenir from Kyoto. This rich history includes Sen no Rikyū establishing the status of Uji tea and the production of Gyokuro in the region. Uji Gyokuro is grown under shade for over 20 days, blocking sunlight. Similar to matcha, it is harvested when 2-3 leaves begin to open. It features a distinctive aroma (cover aroma) and offers a sweet, umami flavor with minimal bitterness. Additionally, tea leaves aged for over a year are used to enhance richness and smoothness. Three Reasons to Choose Kyoto Rikyūen: 1.
