Manufacturer model number: DMW-MS2
The Panasonic DMW-MS2 is a dual-mode stereo/shotgun microphone designed for select Panasonic LUMIX cameras with a compatible hot shoe and 3.5mm microphone input, including the DMC-GH3, DMC-GH4, DMC-FZ1000, and DMC-G6, among other compatible models. It enables high-quality external audio recording as an upgrade over the camera's built-in microphone.
The microphone offers two switchable directional modes, selectable from the camera's menu: Shotgun mode, which uses a highly focused pickup pattern to suppress background noise and capture audio from a single direction, and Stereo mode, which captures a wider soundstage for recording ambient or environmental sound. It is a condenser-type microphone operating on plug-in power supplied by the camera, with a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz.
A metal housing and a vibration-absorbing mic holder help reduce the transmission of camera motor noise and handling noise into the recording, while a windjammer (included) attaches over the microphone to reduce wind noise during outdoor use.
The microphone connects via a built-in 3.5mm mini-jack cable and mounts to the camera's hot shoe, with a mini-plug 2m (6.5ft) extension cable also included for mounting the microphone separately on its own tripod when needed.
Included accessories are the microphone unit, tripod/hot shoe mount with mic holder, windjammer, 2m extension cable, and a carrying case.
Please verify compatibility with your specific LUMIX camera model before purchase, as this microphone requires a camera with a compatible hot shoe mount and 3.5mm microphone input with menu-based mode switching support.
