Everything seems to be available on the market, but the quantity of products offered usually doesn't match their quality. It's the same with mattresses. To ensure a low final price, the components used in their production are usually of poor quality, from the cover made of Asian materials (often containing harmful substances) to the foam. Three things matter in foam: 1) density, 2) density, 3) density...!!! If the foam is light, with the same volume, it means only one thing. Instead of a dense, sufficiently strong structure, we have air! And let's not confuse this with the firmness of the mattress. A soft mattress can also be very dense, thus providing excellent resilience. There are foams corresponding to a hardness of H2, which weigh over 40 kg/m3! Foam is a bit like bread. Let's recall what bread looked like from our childhood (this doesn't apply to millennials ;), meaning those born in the 21st century). Besides tasting different (way better), it was incredibly dense, and even if crushed while cutting, it quickly returned to its original shape. And today? Store-bought bread, often frozen, is inflated with air. A loaf of bread used to weigh up to a kilogram. Today, a similar-looking loaf weighs less than half that, and when we cut it, we crush it, irreversibly damaging its structure. The same is true for polyurethane foam. Not only do many sellers overstate its performance (just weigh the mattress, calculate its mass according to the specifications, and compare the two values), but they also provide only a single rating, e.g., T25, T30. After all, every foam has two values. The first is density (weight in cubic meters), and the second is hardness (resilience in kilopascals). Those who provide only one label often distort reality, and lightweight T2030 foam, completely unsuitable for mattress production (with a weak structure that deforms easily and quickly), suddenly becomes T25 foam. Who among us would think to weigh a purchased mattress???? And that's precisely what dishonest sellers are counting on. After a year, the purchased mattress is only fit for the trash, our backs suffer, and we think that's how it's supposed to be, and since we paid a small amount for it, there's no point in complaining. After all, a good mattress shouldn't cost as much as a pair of shoes. Remember, we spend a third of our lives in bed, and a purchased mattress should last us about 10 years (though it should be replaced more often for hygiene reasons, such as dust mites, microbes, etc.).
