After a 7-year wait, the second album from Zealand artist/producer Fazerdaze (Amelia Murray) is here! The album, titled "Soft Power," is described by her as a "bedroom stadium record." Change is chaos, liberation, filled with euphoria and suffering. However, it always leaves behind fresh landscapes and awaits the unfolding of a chapter. Over the past few months, Fazerdaze has navigated through intense changes. As a result, her versatile album "Soft Power" will be released on November 15 by section1/Buttrfly Records (Australia/New Zealand).
The eagerly awaited comeback EP "Break!" released by Fazerdaze in 2022 brought a seismic shift to her career and a powerful leap toward personal freedom. Following her acclaimed 2017 debut "Morningside," which dealt with personal struggles and industry hurdles, "Break!" was a moment of liberation. Following the success of "Break!"—praised by The Guardian, The FADER, NME, DIY, The Line of Fit, Pitchfork, MOJO—a single titled "Bigger" was released (this track will also be included in the album).
While "Morningside" was a deeply intimate bedroom pop record, Fazerdaze's recent work has pursued a broader sound, inspired by Tame Impala, The Cure, and U2's "The Joshua Tree." The liberating experience of recording and releasing "Break!" invigorated Fazerdaze, leading her to return to solo activities.
The album "Soft Power" features 11 tracks. It is colored by intense self-pity and mature self-awareness, painted with a broader palette. In this album, which she describes as a "bedroom stadium record," synths and electronic beats merge with classic rock flavors, creating a sound that balances hard-hitting authenticity with moments of polished pop brilliance. Most of "Soft Power" was recorded and produced by
