A Japanese rock band, affectionately known as "Southern." Formed by students at Aoyama Gakuin University, they debuted in 1978 with "Katte ni Sindbad." They gained attention for their witty lyrics, unique vocals, and light-hearted sound. Following the smash hit "Itoshi no Ellie" the following year, they gained widespread support as one of Japan's leading bands. With a string of hits including "Namida no Kiss," "Erotica Seven," and "Ai no Kotodama," "TSUNAMI" became the highest-selling single of all time and has won numerous awards, including the Japan Record Award, leading the Japanese music industry. After a temporary hiatus, they resumed activities in 2013. After two years of solo activities from 2016, they relaunched in 2018. They released their greatest hits album, "Umi no Oh, Yeah!!"
