Maracas Rattle Double Twist

A light double maracas rattle for bringing crisp rhythm into a room, with two painted heads that move together from a natural loop handle. Shake it from the wrist for a bright percussive pulse, or turn the loop in the hand and let the twin rattles answer each other with a fuller, layered sound.

Sound and sensation in the hand

The double-head design gives the rhythm more body than a single rattle, with two sounds moving close together.

At 66 g, it feels easy to lift, shake and turn without tiring the hand.

The loop handle encourages a spinning, flowing motion rather than a straight up-and-down shake.

The ribbed rattle heads add texture under the fingers, while the painted red, green and yellow surface brings a festive note to a shelf or music corner.

It suits drum circles, informal music sessions, festivals and playful creative practice where rhythm leads the moment.

Rattan, colour and movement

Made from rattan, this maracas rattle has a natural wrapped handle and two rounded heads with a painted finish. The surface shows small variations in colour and texture, giving it the relaxed character of an object made for movement, sound and display.

How to play it

Hold the loop lightly and shake from the wrist for a steady rhythmic pattern. For a looser, more dancing sound, twist the handle so the two rattle heads move with a slight delay, creating a layered percussion effect.

Where it belongs

Maracas are closely associated with Caribbean and Latin percussion, where rattles are used to carry rhythm, mark accents and bring movement into music. This Indonesian-made version sits naturally in that wider family of hand percussion: simple, immediate and expressive. It can be used in group music-making, sound ritual, creative workshops or as a decorative musical instrument that invites someone to pick it up and begin.

Care between sessions

Keep it dry and store it away from prolonged damp. Wipe the painted surface and handle with a soft, dry cloth after use…
