Product Introduction
Fine Molds 1/72 Aircraft Series U.S. Air Force F-4D Fighter Night Attacker Plastic Model 72747
Of the 825 F-4Ds produced by the U.S. Air Force, 71 were retrofitted with the LORAN-D antenna (AN/ARN-92) and used as "pathfinders" to guide fighter-bomber squadrons while receiving signals from ground-based tactical navigation signal stations.
These aircraft were further modified as night fighter-bombers (night attackers) with black undersides and saw action in Operation Linebacker toward the end of the Vietnam War.
The LORAND-D antenna is nicknamed the "towel hanger" among military aircraft enthusiasts both in Japan and abroad.
This kit precisely recreates the LORAND-D antenna using plastic parts.
