250mm woofer unit with Sony's unique "MRC" material Sony's unique MRC (foamed mica) material is used as a vibrating plate for the woofer unit that achieves powerful, clear yet rich bass. Mica flakes are molded into foam cells, pulp and synthetic fibers are combined to achieve lightweight, high rigidity and moderate internal loss properties, and a two-layer paper making technique is used to combine the base material of the diaphragm with different types of MRC. Because of its high rise and strong bass, the first generation MRC with high foaming magnification and high rigidity is used as the base material, and the second generation MRC with low foaming magnification and honest sound quality is arranged as the surface material.
