[Built-in preamplifier]
The SM7dB features a built-in Shure-designed preamp with plenty of output to accommodate any XLR interface.
The built-in preamp provides up to +28dB, low noise, flat and stable gain, preserving the microphone's frequency response for clean, classic sound.
If you have an interface or mixer that provides +48V phantom power, you can run the preamp.
[Gain level]
You can choose +18dB or +28dB boost from the preamp.
If you're miking loud sources like a guitar cabinet or snare drum, you can choose +18dB or bypass the preamp and use the original SM7B's output level.
Choose +28dB for quiet recordings such as podcasting or solo broadcasting.
[Bypass switch]
A convenient bypass mode allows the microphone to send an unboosted signal to a professional console or interface without using the built-in preamp.
By bypassing the preamp, the SM7dB returns to the original SM7B performance.
No matter how you use it, this microphone maintains its excellent sound quality characteristics.
