Product introduction
This work, which became the third kekele, is an ambitious work that shows an approach to Cuban music of the time in order to explore the roots of “Roomba Congo.” In this work, the repertoire centered on works left by the great Cuban musician Guillermo Portabares, who is known for composing “El Carretero (wagon pulling),” is sung with lyrics in Lingala rather than original Spanish. The performance style is also based on the Charanga orchestra style, which features flute and violin, and is a funky saxophone (the late Manu DiBango participated!) Sounds reminiscent of Cuban music of yesteryear, such as trumpet solos also appearing, are impressive. Of course, as before, it can be said that the biggest appeal of this work is that you can enjoy the powerful yet elegant singing voices of veterans with an acoustic accompaniment that does not use electric instruments in the background. I would recommend this work not only to fans of African music, but also to true fans of popular music who are not swept away by the times. (C) RS
