When the Mercedes-Benz SL "R 230" was unveiled to the press in Hamburg in June 2001, it immediately captivated the automotive world. Thanks to its state-of-the-art electronic suspension system, the R 230 offered an exceptional driving experience while simultaneously achieving the highest level of driving safety. Distinctive details such as the slender, wing-like shape of the side air vents, the long, horizontally extending radiator grille, and the muscular fenders fused tradition and the future in design. Another special highlight of the 230 was the "Vario Roof" mechanism, which automatically opened and closed the metal roof in just 16 seconds and stored it in the trunk. Assembled by hand from precision-tuned plastic parts, this zinc die-cast miniature car faithfully recreates the original R 230 down to the smallest detail. It includes the Vario Roof, as well as opening and closing doors, hood, and tailgate. The model is delivered in exclusive Mercedes-Benz packaging and includes a screwdriver for easy access and protective gloves to prevent fingerprints from getting on the body.
