This part proves that "rigidity" isn't always the best. The top bridge supports the upper part of the fork and, along with the steering stem and underbracket, significantly impacts handling. While high rigidity is generally thought to equate to high performance, excessive stiffness can sometimes impair a natural handling feel. This design was conceived to create supple handling by hollowing out the top bridge and effectively reducing rigidity. The top bridge combines two seemingly contradictory qualities: high rigidity made possible by being machined from solid aluminum, and supple flexibility. This allows the two front forks to move under load when cornering, rather than being rigid, resulting in nimble handling and improved steering feel.
