In the past, this was made as a kimono pattern for men. One theory is that it was named Bunjingara because it was a kimono pattern often worn by shogun (classical scholars). In Kurume kasuri, it is called Bunjingasuri. Bunjingasuri is extremely expensive, costing tens of thousands of yen per piece, making it out of reach. This product uses twisted yarn (threads of two different colors) to faithfully reproduce Bunjingasuri without using kasuri techniques. It is called Kurume Bunjinori because it is woven wide. The small checkered pattern is stylish and has a unique texture that cannot be achieved with printed materials.
