We have created a Samue with a unique texture, luster, and feel, made from a thick Sashiko weave fabric that is used for martial arts wear. The thick fabric of the Samue makes it perfect for wearing from autumn to winter.
The fabric is made from yarn-dyed fabric, painstakingly produced in Enshu (western Shizuoka Prefecture), one of Japan's leading textile production areas. Compared to piece-dyed or printed fabrics, the color lasts longer and is characterized by its deep color.
The bold, thick bonito stripes make this a chic and stylish piece. Pair it with plain navy blue pants made of the same material for a cool look.
Just as the color of a bonito's body gradually lightens from its back to its belly, stripes that change from dark to light are called "katsuo stripes." They are often made in bright blue colors, and were often used as patterns for yukata (summer robes) during the Edo period.
The waist is elastic and has a drawstring, and the front zipper makes it easy to wear like regular pants. There are 1 pocket on the left side of the jacket and 1 on each side of the pants.
