Pit-Road 1/350 JB Series JMSDF Submarine SS-573 Yuushio Plastic Model JB36
The Yuushio-class is an expanded and improved version of the Uzushio-class, the JMSDF's first teardrop-shaped, single-screw propeller submarine, with the first ship, Yuushio, commissioned in 1976.
This class boasts a 4m longer hull than its predecessor, the Uzushio-class, to accommodate various evolving equipment. Its safe diving depth has been increased, its underwater endurance has been improved through improved batteries, and its reconnaissance capabilities have been enhanced with the JMSDF's first digital passive sonar, the ZQQ-4.
It is also capable of firing Harpoon anti-ship missiles from torpedo tubes, is equipped with a masker sound suppressor to reduce underwater radiated noise, and employs a low-speed, five-point skew-screw propeller for improved quietness.
