The insole is made of black tatami mat, a woven material made from a blend of charcoal made from carefully selected thinned pine, cedar, and cypress wood, and resin (polypropylene) using resin processing technology that preserves the charcoal's properties. Not only do they provide a comfortable, dry feel underfoot, but they also have the charcoal's excellent odor-absorbing properties. *You will not get black charcoal on your feet. Because the black tatami mat is made of resin, it is more durable, moisture-resistant, and less susceptible to mold and mildew than natural rush grass, allowing for long-lasting, clean use. Because the slippers are woven like tatami mats, they feel as dry and comfortable on the soles of your feet as if you were walking on tatami mats, even when worn barefoot.
