Loved in over 100 countries around the world, Learning Resources' "Sight Word Toss!" is an active word game that uses your body to toss cute frog beanbags and improve your vocabulary.
The sight word cards, shaped like water lily leaves, are double-sided and come in five colors: blue, red, yellow, orange, and purple. They're color-coded into five levels, so choose the color of the cards that best suits your child's proficiency level. Cards with words that are difficult to read because of unconventional pronunciation or spelling rules feature a red heart, making it easy to identify words with special pronunciation.
After splitting into two teams, spread the cards out in a large space and decide where to toss the beanbags. The first player chooses one of the spread cards and reads the word out loud. If they read it correctly, they gently toss the beanbag so that it lands on the card. When the beanbag lands on the card, they get the card! Players switch and continue in turns until there are no more cards left. The team that gets the most cards wins.
You can also try out various activities, such as competing in a speed race to throw beanbags at the correct card, or seeing how many beanbags you can throw at the correct card within a set time.
