Brand Introduction
Hamilton is a watch company founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand gained acclaim with its first pocket watch, the Broadway Limited, known as the 'Watch of Railroad Accuracy' that provided accurate train schedules. In 1914, Hamilton became a supplier for the U.S. Army Air Corps, and by 1919, it began measuring time for ski events and offering services for the United States Postal Service. In the 1930s, many airlines used Hamilton watches as their official timepieces. During World War II, Hamilton temporarily halted consumer sales and produced nearly one million military watches. In 1970, Hamilton introduced the world’s first digital watch, the 'Pulsar', and in 1977 it was acquired by the Omega-Tissot-Lanco group known as SSIH. As of 1983, Hamilton became a brand under the Swatch Group.
