For fine brushes, please use the brush with the tip of the bristles extended by about 1/3. After use, do not wash the root of the brush, but only clean the tip of the bristles.
The "Ichijo" is a face brush that makes it easy to draw thin lines and is ideal for writing fine kana characters. Weasel hair, the main bristles, is often used for kana brushes due to its excellent overall qualities, including elasticity, cohesion, and ink absorption. The lifespan of a fine brush varies greatly depending on how it is cared for. For fine brushes, the basic rule is to use the brush with about one-third of the bristles shrunk. After use, clean only the tips of the bristles, not the base. Never splash the brush in water. Drop a few drops of water onto the inkstone, gently loosen the ink at the tips of the bristles, and wipe the ink off the paper you used to write on until it is diluted. Then, gently wipe any ink remaining on the sides of the bristles with a tissue moistened with water. Wipe from the base to the tip. Finally, carefully reshape the brush. Kana fine brushes come with two types of handles: face brushes and regular handles. Menso brushes have bristles shaped like willow leaves, and the tip is made thin, making it easy to hold and suitable for drawing thin, delicate lines. Menso brushes have a thin tip, so if you attach the handle as is, it will be too thin to hold and will not be stable, so by raising the handle a step, it becomes easier to hold. When you see a menso brush, it is basically a thin brush.
You can think of this as a kana brush that allows you to draw smooth, supple lines. The standard handle is designed to make it easy to vary the strength of thin and thick lines. We hope you will use it as a reference depending on the type of lines you want to draw, depending on your copy or project.
