"Super Mario RPG," originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System 27 years ago, returns with brand new graphics on Nintendo Switch. ■Story■ Mario heads to Bowser's Castle to rescue the kidnapped Peach. Just when he thinks he can finally relax after defeating Bowser, a giant sword suddenly falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's Castle, sending Mario flying. He decides to go back in search of Peach. Along the way, Mario learns that the sword piercing Bowser's Castle destroyed the Star Road, which grants people's wishes, and its fragments, the "Star Pieces," have been scattered across the world. Together with the supportive companions you meet along the way, you begin your adventure to collect Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes come true. ■Explore the Fields with a Jump■Using Mario's signature "jump" action, you'll explore various fields and dungeons while solving puzzles. ■Companions on Your Adventure■Mario will be joined on his adventure by Maro, a fluffy frog-like creature; Geno, the heavenly messenger who visited Mario World to retrieve the Star Pieces; and familiar characters from the Mario series, Bowser and Peach. ■Battles Using Action Commands■In "Action Command Battles," you time your attacks and defenses to the right. During battles with monsters, executing an action command will allow you to attack the entire monster or reduce damage taken to zero. Starting with this title, successfully executing consecutive action commands will create a "chain," boosting your companions' abilities and giving you an advantage in battle. While you're getting used to the game, you can also use the "!" symbol to appear at just the right time. Each successful action command will also fill up a gauge. When this gauge reaches 100%, the three people in battle can combine their powers to unleash a special "three-person technique.
