Preventing Water-Absorbent Problems
Donabe pots are naturally water-absorbent.
Water-absorbency can lead to stains, odors, and mold. First, follow the steps below.
1. Fill the pot about 80% full with water and bring to a boil.
2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, add the flour dissolved in the water, and stir well.
3. Simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and let cool.
4. Rinse thoroughly and dry before use.
*Amount of flour
No. 6 pot: 0.5 tablespoons
No. 7 pot: 1 tablespoon
No. 8 pot: 2 tablespoons
No. 9 pot: 3 tablespoons
No. 10 pot: 4 tablespoons
No. 11 pot: 5 tablespoons
*If the instructions differ from those in the product's instruction manual, please follow the included instruction manual.
*This procedure alone will not completely prevent problems with your donabe pot. Please also follow the precautions above.
