Product Introduction
Pit-Road 1/700 Skywave Series U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier CV-3 Saratoga 1936 Plastic Model W259
Saratoga was laid down as a battlecruiser in September 1920, but was converted to an aircraft carrier in accordance with the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, which restricted the ownership of capital ships. It was the second ship of the Lexington-class aircraft carriers, commissioned in November 1927.
At the time of its commissioning, this class was the world's largest aircraft carrier, boasting high speed thanks to its long, battlecruiser-based hull and a powerful air force of 90 aircraft, including those moored on deck.
