Product Introduction
The Asashio-class was a large destroyer similar to the Special Type, and the Asagumo was the fifth of its kind. Commissioned on March 31, 1938, it saw action in numerous naval battles, including the Battle of Java, the Third Battle of the Solomon Islands, and the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. However, on October 25, 1944, during Operation Sho-Go, it lost its bow in a torpedo attack by a U.S. destroyer fleet. While its sister ships, Mitsushio and Yamagumo, sank, the Asagumo turned back and withdrew, but was eventually attacked by a U.S. cruiser and set on fire, sinking. This kit recreates the ship's condition as of 1941. It also includes the new equipment set NE05, "1/700 Japanese Navy New Ship Equipment Set 5," allowing for the creation of even more precise models. Choose between at-sea or full hull configuration during construction. Includes one ship. The image shows an assembled and painted prototype.
[Set Contents] Includes the New Equipment Set NE05 "1/700 Japanese Navy New Ship Equipment Set 5" and decals for "Asagumo," "Michio," "Yamagumo," and "Kasumi."
