Polartec® Alpha® fabric is an excellent insulator, it is soft, elastic and lightweight. A couple of years ago, we thought this would be a great fabric for a base layer, but it tended to feel damp and sticky on the skin. But when we were looking for more insulation for gravel rides in sub-zero temperatures, we tried using Alpha® prototypes as a second layer over a Prosecco base layer — and stumbled upon the best combination for riding in cold weather. We worked on the details and created this second layer for riding in cold weather. We made it with a half-zip so it doesn't create bulk around the lower torso, and we placed the zipper slightly to the side to avoid the bulk of multiple zippers around the neck. We kept the close-fitting cut, so you can tuck it into your leggings or leave it as is, like we do. We also found that it works well over the base layer Flanders, Bandito, Miracolo or Seamless. Peculiarities: Fabric Polartec® Alpha® 90 with high volume active insulation made from recycled PET. Maximum breathability. Asymmetric zipper. High collar.
